Depending on the material, the thickness of the sewing thread is divided into different names:

For example, polyester staple fiber is called how many strands and how many strands. For example: 40S/2 (that is, 40 strands with two strands) is what we usually sew clothes.

If it is polyester filament, it is generally called how many D and how many strands, for example: 150D/3 (that is, it is made of 150D three strands twisted together). Many people also call it as many strands, for example: 2 strands, 3 strands, 4 strands, 6, 9 shares, etc.

How to choose the thickness of sewing thread

① The bobbin capacity of the lock stitch sewing machine is limited, and the use of thinner sewing thread can accommodate longer sewing thread, saving the time of changing the shuttle and achieving high work efficiency.

② The thin sewing thread is small in size and feels good in chain sewing.

③ The sewing thread occupies a very small space during sewing, which causes less fabric deformation and sewing wrinkles.

④ Small needles can be used for fine sewing threads to avoid needle holes in the fabric.

⑤ The fine sewing thread can also reduce the prominent seam marks, making it trapped in the inner layer of the fabric surface and reducing the impact of abrasion.
